there are no longer downpayment assistance programs. With FHA, you need 3.5% down – which HAS TO BE your own money.

If you don’t have this, then you really can’t afford a home.References :

I suggest you wait until you can comfortably afford a reasonable downpayment. I did and that's why I'm worth a lot of money now.

If you cannot afford the down payment on a house, them you should not be buying it. That was the type of lending practices that has put this economy into the trouble we are experiencing.

You can check local city agencies if they have down payment assistance, maybe through HUD. Or you could take out an additional loan?
